Patricia Nguyen MinhHuong was born in Vietnam in 1956 She studied French Literature and Philosophy at the Hue University while she was learning to paint at the Hue College of Fine Arts While there she also studied French literature and philosophyPatricias first group exhibition was with students from the School of Fine Arts in January 1975 Vietnam She left her homeland to come to her adopted country Canada in 1979 settling in QuebecCombining art and work in a hobby Patricia became a selftaught artist represented by several galleries across Canada France and the United States In Ottawa Ontario Patricia Huong has been represented for many years by Koyman GalleriesUsing her favourite medium oil paint she creates landscapes still life and figurative works in vibrant blocks of colours Her compositions are quite often androgynous figures gathered together cheerfully playing their musical instruments against a landscape of buildings The feeling that she evokes in her painting is one of happiness and fun
